My ancestors are from the modern-day part of Germany that was
the Austrasian part of the Merovingian Kingdom of the Franks. And so it is that Leimbach is a Frankish family name still widely used there
for people, places and things. More specifically, my ancestors lived in that part of Austrasia now in the modern-day German state of Hesse,
generally north and east of Frankfurt am Main, west of Fulda, and south of Kassel. The name was changed to Leinbach upon my ancestor's
arrival in American in 1723 and finally to the Anglicized spelling of Lineback when German names became unpopular at the time of the First
World War.
